Sean Terry became Celina’s mayor in 2013 and re-elected to his first full-term in 2014. Mayor Terry has been very active in the community since moving here after graduating from Texas A & M University in College Station in 1995 with a Bachelor’s Degree. Sean was a member of the Texas A&M Aggies football team and was named a captain by his peers during his senior year. Mayor Terry has taken the challenge of helping Celina grow into a productive major city in Collin County. As a sixth-generation Collin County resident, the son of a school superintendent and school teacher, he knows the importance of education and the importance of planning for the future. Mayor Terry has been married to his wife, Angie, also a longtime Collin County resident, since 1993 and they have two children, Kylee and Kade attending the Celina School district. Mayor Terry has always felt the need to be involved in his community. He joined the Celina Volunteer Fire Department in 1998 and retired as a captain in 2010 to focus on his duties as a city council member. He currently serves as the President of the North Texas Mayors Association and is a member of the Rotary Club. Mayor Terry says his main focus has always been to promote growth and development to this community without losing the small town appeal. He feels that working with the school system, businesses, churches and other stake-holders in the community is what it takes to make this a great community that grows with exceptional planning. Mayor Terry is proud of the development that is occurring in Celina and the opening of the new fire station that is located on Preston Road will be a real asset to the safety of our residents. Mayor Terry stated that he feels what Henry Ford said is important to remember, “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” That is his goal as he looks to the future for Celina.
